The role of vascular echography in the management of complications associated with central venous access for hemodialysis in cancer patients: two case reports and literature review
O segundo c...

Extra-vascular findings in patients undergoing magnetic resonance angiography of the abdomen, pelvis and lower extremities: A retrospective study of 352 patients.
Conclusions Extravascular findings are frequently encountered in magnetic resonance angiography performed for vascular indications. Clinically relevant findings are seen in a substantial part of patients and should prompt further diagnostic work-up. PMID: 28587578 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Lymphatic compensation during the postoperative period after breast cancer treatment with axillary dissection
The objective of this literature review was to study lymphatic compensation after surgery for breast cancer and the factors that influence this process, with a view to understanding the etiopathogenesis of lymphedema. Articles indexed on Pubmed published from 1985 to 2012 were reviewed. According to the literature, lymphangiogenesis reduces damage to lymph vessels; there is little evidence that Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor is elevated in women with lymphedema; lymphovenous communications can be observed 60 days after surgery; women without lymphedema have acquired alternative mechanisms for removal of proteins from t...

Correlation of clinical features with the risk of lower limb deep vein thrombosis assessed by duplex ultrasound
CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, 36.4% of the patients referred to DS had DVT. Age > 65 years, presence of limb swelling, pain, cancer, and suspected or proven PE should be considered as major risk factors for DVT.

Selective vesical artery embolization for treatment of gross hematuria due to actinic cystitis
This article describes the case of a 46-year-old female patient who had been treated with radiotherapy for cervical cancer. She developed actinic cystitis with frequent episodes of severe hematuria. She required repeated catheterization to manage urinary retention, blood transfusions and hospital admissions. Conservative measures and attempts to achieve hemostasis by cystoscopy were unsuccessful at controlling bleeding. The patient therefore underwent endovascular treatment with superselective embolization of the vesical arteries and other vascular pedicles found to be linked with the bleeding. The procedure was successful...
